Often those who have trouble writing need more practice writing. If you can make that practice authentic and set criteria that does not overwhelm, then I think that blogging can play a powerful role for the reluctant writer. You can begin by setting no criteria at all... except to write. Audience is so important in one's writing, as it shapes what and how we communicate in writing. If you develop your learning community so that they are there to support one another in their written communications, then whatever intimidation is felt would be self-imposed rather than imposed from others. Encourage reluctant writers to write about what they know best. That is often the best place to begin.

I share the same thought with you. I’m also a computer foreigner. I believe that this class provided a lot of resources that I didn’t know that they even existed. Even though I have a lot to learn, I feel more comfortable about computers now than the beginning of the term.

Crisanta,

It's just you. English is my first and only language and I find it a little difficult to follow along. You did fine in our classes together last semester, I'm sure you'll succeed this semester. So don't feel alone.

Thanks for your candor, Crisanta. It must be difficult to follow all of this technical jargon when English is not your first language and you are still trying to get fluent with it. However, I can not stress enough in your case that you make your voice known when you have needs. It is the students who ask questions that get their needs met and advance. Those who do not experience unnecessary frustration and delayed learning. We are no longer in grade school where it can be "embarrassing" to ask what we think is a "dumb" question. There is no dumb question. The power is in your own voice, so make it heard. You MUST get over the idea that others will think less of you for it. Be selfish. Be sure to get your needs met here :-)
